Kayleigh-Ann
Founder and creator of Positively Periods.
Kayleigh qualified as an adult nurse (BSc) from the University of Surrey
She has 9 years of experience working as a nurse.
She studied specialist public health nursing at Brunel University in 2019. (PGDip)
When she was a young adult she did not learn about periods and when she came of age, what should have been a wonderful coming-of-age moment was filled with fear and anxiety. She had to learn fast and what is common knowledge had to be learned in a time where talking about periods was fairly taboo.
Her mission is to ensure that young adults do not experience what she did as a child.
She wants to make sure that young adults are informed about the changes happening in their bodies and can talk freely regarding this important moment in their lives. She also wants to promote confidence in our young people around normal bodily functions.
Kayleigh wants to ensure that parents/carers feel empowered around talking about this topic which can be difficult. As well as reminding them of the biology behind it.

Michelle
Michelle studied children’s nursing at Kingston University.
She worked in health care for years where she specialised in sexual health for 4 years.
Michelle has been awarded the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches and has trained with the Royal Life Saving Society UK. Her current role involves working with young children where she teaches swimming and lifesaving skills, although she is currently on maternity leave with her incredible family.
Unlike Kayleigh, Michelle did have some education on periods. As a young adult, she was taught by family members and she knows how important this formative information is to a young lady.
At primary school, information on periods was limited and she is aware that her peers were not as lucky as she was with regards to education around this natural cycle.
Michelle has volunteered with Girlguiding for over 15 years. She understands the importance of education, building confidence in young people, and empowering them to be the best version of themselves.
